KOHLER, WIS. -- The Concordia University Chicago Cougars secured their first win of the season after taking down Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference member Marian University 6-3 while many Cougars picked up their first career wins.

Joshua Gustafson (Merrill, Wis.) and Kevin Januska (Bolingbrook, Ill.) won their doubles match to secure the Cougars their first point of the match with an 8-0 victory.Â

Despite not picking up the win, Reynaldo Leal (Weslaco, Texas) and Diego Loveshe (Franklin Park, Ill.) put up a battle in their doubles match as they fell 8-6.

SINGLES

Nathan Stringer (Milwaukee, Wis.) picked up his first win in the maroon and gold after taking down his opponent 6-2 and 6-1.

Leal also picked up his first win as a Cougar after a hard-fought match, winning his flight 6-3 and 7-6 following a 9-7 tiebreaker.

Caleb Gustafson (Merrill, Wis.) picked up his second career win in the number three singles after taking down his opponent 6-0 and 6-2.

Loveshe wrote his name on the first career win list after picking up the win in the number five singles with a score of 6-2 and 6-4.

J. Gustafson also went on to secure his first competitive win in the number six singles spot with a score of 6-4 and 6-0.Â
