RIVER FOREST, ILL. -- In vastly different conditions than the day before, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars provided a vastly different outcome than the day before as they fell in two games to the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders.
Game One
INSIDE THE BOX
-
Tyler Dorsch (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the offense going three-for-four at the plate and picking up two RBIs while recording the team's only home run of the game.
-
Four Cougars dealt on the mound as Wyatt McLaughlin (Cave Creek, Ariz.) picked up four strikeouts and Tyler Pritchard (Manhattan, Ill.) picked up three.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Cougars quickly combatted that and evened things up after a leadoff single from Garry Maynard (Oswego, Ill.) would get him on base as the rest of the lineup would move him around and a single from Tyler Krater (Phoenix, Ariz.) would send him home.
-
The Cougars would jump ahead of the Raiders in the bottom of the second after back-to-back doubles from Carter Gledhill (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Maynard would put them up 2-0.
-
A big top of the third for the Raiders would jump them ahead by three before three consecutive singles from Michael Kasik (Chandler, Ariz.), Caleb Anderson (Plainfield, Ill.), and Joe Gonzalez (Chicago, Ill.) would cut the deficit down to two.
-
Battling to keep the game even, singles from Elijah Hickman (Rensselaer, Ind.), Dorsch, and Kasik would move runners around and tie things back up at five apiece.
-
The Raiders would dominate for the next two innings and jump out to a 12-5 lead, leaving the Cougars scratching for runs. Despite picking up two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, the Cougars wouldn't be able to ward off the Raiders' offense and quickly fell behind 17-7.
-
A solo home run for Dorsch would add the last Cougar run of the day and close the game 17-8.

Game Two
INSIDE THE BOX
-
Krater and Jaime Sandoval (Oak Lawn, Ill.) each went two-for-three in the game with Sandoval adding one RBI.
-
Maynard went one-for-for while picking up four RBIs on a second-inning grand slam.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
A big first inning for the Raiders would set the Cougar offense up to have to battle back from the jump. Unable to convert in the bottom of the first, the Raiders continued to build their lead into the top of the second.Â
-
Heading into their second at-bat with a ten-run deficit, the Cougars quickly started to build their momentum back. Hits from Kasik, Krater, and Sandoval would get the bases moving and pick up the first run of the game off Sandoval's single through the right side.
-
With bases loaded once again, a grand slam to center field from Maynard would bring the Cougars within a five-run deficit to close the second inning.
-
Needing to lock down on defense, the Cougars were unable to slow down the Raiders' bats and ultimately gave up an additional 13 runs to give the Raiders the 23-7 victory.Â
