KOHLER, WIS. — With the regular season wrapping up, the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's tennis team had the opportunity to scratch their way into the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) tournament. To put themselves in a great position, CUC defeated Lakeland University with a score of 5-4.

In the doubles matches, Diego Loveshe (Franklin Park, Ill.) and Nathan Stringer (Milwaukee, Wis.) were able to take a win with a score of 8-4. Also in their pairing was Joshua Gustafson (Merrill, Wis.) and Kevin Januska (Bolingbrook, Ill.), who also picked up their doubles win with a score of 8-5. Two doubles match wins for the Cougars put them in a great position for the rest of the match.

Multiple Cougars were able to steal wins in their singles matches as well. Stringer won with scores of 6-2 and 7-5. Also picking up single wins were Caleb Gustafson (Merrill, Wis.), 6-4 and 7-6, after a 7-5 tiebreaker win. Along with Reynaldo Leal (Weslaco, Texas) who won after a three round matchup with a loss of 6-0, win of 7-5, and win of 6-3.

The Cougars have the opportunity to place sixth in conference play and clinch a spot in the NACC Tournament. All updates and information on this will be found at cucougars.com once the announcement has been made.
