RIVER FOREST, ILL. — Hosting their first home opener of the 2023 season, the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's lacrosse team was ready to battle. The Cougars hosted the Wabash College Little Giants in this non-conference matchup. The Cougars ultimately fell to the Little Giants with a score of 21-6.

Earning his first goal of the season and a hat trick, Zach Cicero (Chicago, Ill.) provided three of the six goals on the day and one assist.

Continuing his offense prowess, Jarred Tabor (Crystal Lake, Ill.) contributed two goals of his own.

Sean Dooley (Ocala, Fla.) picked up his first goal of the season.

Leading in both categories, Justin Headley (Baltimore, Md.) picked up seven ground balls and two assists.
The Cougars started off the game in a competitive fashion with a tight game between them and the Little Giants. Wabash would strike first, scoring four goals in the first quarter. Cicero and Dooley would then bring in back-to-back goals to bring the Cougars within two with a score of 4-2.
Starting off the second half, Tabor would score his first goal of the game, before Wabash went on a rally. The Little Giants scored six consecutive goals before Cicero came in to complete his hat trick. This would leave the score at 17-4 going into the last quarter.
In the fourth quarter, both Tabor and Cicero would find one more goal each. However, this proved to be too late and the Cougars fell to the Little Giants with a score of 21-6.
