Bourbonnais, Ill. – The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's track and field team opened up their 2023-2024 season at Olivet Nazarene University for the Holiday Invite.
On the track, several Cougars had impressive outings.
Eve Shelton (St. Louis, Mo.) recorded top 15 finishes in both the 60-meter and 200-meter running an 8.31 and 27.72 respectively. Shelton's 60-meter time was a new career best for her.
Tegan Oas (Shingle Springs, Calif.) led the way in the women's mile finishing with a time of 5:58.85, a new PR.
Breanna Walters (Poplar Grove, Ill.) came in behind her after running a 6:31.11.
Ariel Martinez (Berwyn, Ill.) was dominant in the 3,000-meter finishing first with a personal best of 11:37.68. Izzy Fairless also contributed valuable points running a 13:07.23.
The Cougars were just as impressive in the field as three athletes finished top ten in the high jump.
Noor Sammour (Berwyn, Ill.) finished fourth by jumping a personal-best 1.50-meters.
Emily Miller (Watseka, Ill.) and
Jamie Seibert (Arlington Heights, Ill.) both jumped career-highs 1.40-meters
To conclude the day,
Elizabeth Clouse (Jackson, Mich.) finished sixth in the weight throw throwing 10.99-meters setting a new career-high.
