PEORIA, ILL. — With the conference championships fast approaching, the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's cross country team went to take on some tough competition. Racing against multiple divisions, the Cougars finished 15th out of 17 teams.
The highest scorer of the day was Mauricio Xochitecatl (Carol Stream, IL) who placed 82nd with a time of 27:14.40. He crossed his personal record (PR) by a staggering 62 seconds to enter into the 27th minute on his finish.
Two other Cougars PR'd on the day, including Jules Dehove (Lachelle, Hauts de France) who ran a 29:09.90, a whole three minutes and 49 seconds faster than his previous PR. Also smashing his PR was Marcus Cuellar (Chicago, Ill.), who ran a minute and 38 seconds faster than his previous time at 39:12.70.
"In spite of some gnarly weather, we were able to get the job done," Head Coach Malachi Allgood had to comment on the race. "These are the moments where the progress and the PRs really lay the foundation for a competitive Conference race in a couple weeks."
The Cougars will be off next weekend, gearing up for the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 28th. The men's race will begin at 12 p.m. Coverage for all of our sports can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
