RIVER FOREST, ILL. — In a midweek matchup between two Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference rivals just 40 minutes apart, the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's soccer team (2-10-2, 2-6-1) welcomed the Benedictine Eagles (4-7-3, 4-4-1) to River Forest. Benedictine led for most of the game, but a last second CUC goal secured a 1-1 tie between the two squads.

-How it Happened
First Half
Benedictine scored on just their second shot of the game when Kaya Dreger snuck one past Burnell. That was Burnell's only lapse of the first half, as she went on to make two saves by halftime.
As for the Cougars's offense, Medelin Loza (Cicero, Ill.) was the only CUC player to register a shot in the first 45 at the 39:17 mark, but Benedictine goalie Katherine Prochnow stood tall to keep her team on top 1-0 when halftime struck.
Second Half
Concordia's offense was more productive to kick off the back half of the game. Valeria Fernandez (Burbank, Ill.) and Pamela Saldivar (Chicago, Ill.) both put shots on goal in the first 10:11 of the half, but neither could find the equalizer.
Meanwhile, CUC's defense kept Benedictine quiet until the 79:55 mark when Kiara McPherson got a shot on goal off, but Burnell was there to keep the Cougars's deficit at one.
With just 19 seconds left in the game, Concordia finally found an answer in the form of Paulsen, who used her speed to get the ball behind a charging Prochnow. At that point, all the ball had to do was roll into the net, and CUC tied the game at 1-1, which is what the scoreboard read when the final buzzer rang, giving both squads a tie.
