Penalty Kick The Difference In 1-0 Loss to Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. --- Hitting the road for the first time this season, the Concordia University Chicago women's soccer team took on the Lake Forest Foresters on Monday afternoon. The Cougar defense held tough all day, but a 31st minute penalty kick goal for Lake Forest would prove to be the difference.

Kassie Silenzi made 14 saves in net for CUC, giving up just the lone penalty kick goal. With the 14 saves, Silenzi reached 200 total saves for her career. The senior is just the fifth player in school history to reach the 200 save milestone.

Defense ruled the day, with neither side generating many high quality chances. Lake Forest got the best look of the first half when they were awarded a penalty kick in the 31st minute. Anna Gracia was able to find the back of the net, giving the Foresters a 1-0 lead.

The Cougars generated a couple late chances in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net for the equalizer.

Concordia continues non-conference play on Wednesday afternoon when Saint Xavier comes to River Forest for a 4:00pm kickoff. You can find links to coverage at cucougars.com/coverage.
