Cougars Fall to CUW in First Road Contest

MEQUON, Wis. --- Hitting the road for the first time this season, the Concordia University Chicago football team traveled north to Mequon, Wisconsin for a rivalry matchup with Concordia University Wisconsin. The Cougars fought to stay in the game, getting a special teams touchdown, but they ultimately fell 35-7 to the Falcons.

-         E'derian Sykes led the offense with 109 rushing yards with a long run of 39 yards. He also caught four passes for 22 yards.
-         Travon Thomas paced the defense with nine total tackles.
-         Cleveland Tucker was credited with the blocked punt and the touchdown for CUC.

The Falcons took the opening kickoff of the game and were able to take advantage. The drive took CUW five plays to go 70 yards in just over a minute and a half. The drive was capped off by a James Linn 42-yard touchdown pass to TJ Harrold.

CUW then took advantage of a short field after a blocked punt to make it 14-0. It was Lind again with the touchdown pass, this time an 11-yard pass to Tim Houlihan in the right side of the end zone.

The Cougars got on the board late in the second quarter. After the CUC defense forced CUW into a fourth and long, the Cougars were able to block the Falcon' punt, and Cleveland Tucker was able to scoop the ball up in the end zone to pull the Cougars back within 14-7.


The Falcons answered the CUC touchdown to open the second half. It took CUW 3:17 and eight plays to go 67 yards. Linn capped off the drive with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Samuel Campbell to extend the CUW advantage to 21-7.

CUW added two more touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, leading to the 35-7 win over the Cougars.
