Cougars Outshine Duhawks 3-0

WHEATON, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago women's volleyball team traveled back to Wheaton College to close out the Marilyn Scibner Invite. The Cougars faced the Duhawks of Loras College in their match Saturday afternoon. CUC was able to pull away with a 3-0 victory. 

The match started in a back and forth fashion. The Cougars were ultimately able to pull away with various runs. The Cougars took the lead and never looked back after a block from Eve Dicken and Lili Hunt. CUC pulled out a 25-21 win in set one. 

Concordia started set two out strong with a ten point scoring run. Loras tried to rally back but ultimately the Cougars finished the set out with a kill from Kate Foley to win 25-18. 
 

Similarly, in set three the Cougars came out hungry and jumped ahead 3-0. Concordia went on five different runs throughout this set which conclusively led to a 25-17 win ending in a kill from McKayla Levoy. 

CUC was led on the offensive end by Grace Heywood and Kate Foley with 11 and 10 kills respectively. Isabelle Vernengo came away with a team high 27 assists and 11 digs. 

The Cougars close the Wheaton College Invite with a 2-1 record as they look to keep the momentum going when they open conference play on Wednesday, September 14th as they travel to Illinois Institute of Technology at 7pm.
