Eugene, Ore. — The two most decorated athletes in Concordia University Chicago history took center stage on Thursday night at the 2022 USA Outdoor National Championships. 2022 NCAA DIII national champions Simone Wilson and Kayla Armstrong competed against Olympians and professionals as they left it all out there in the final race of their careers.
Two time national champion Wilson ran the final race of her historic career in the 400m hurdles earlier in the day. Wilson Lined up just a couple lanes away from the world record holder and reigning gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin. The fifth year for CUC put together a strong race, finishing seventh in her heat and 23rd overall.
The 2022 400-meter national champion Armstrong ran her final race in the Maroon and Gold tonight. Armstrong finished sixth in her heat and 27th overall, while racing some of the fastest women in the world.
Wilson and Armstrong finish their careers with a combined three national championships, 18 All-American honors and countless NACC championships and awards. They leave CUC as the most decorated athletes in school history.
