MONTGOMERY, Ill. --- Playing for the 2022 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference regular season title, the Concordia University Chicago women's lacrosse team took on the Aurora University Spartans on Wednesday evening. The Cougars tried to rally aver a tough opening quarter, but ultimately fell to the Spartans by a final score of 18-8.
Aurora controlled the ball for most of the first quarter. They took advantage, scoring six unanswered goals in the quarter. Concordia tried to work back into the contest early in the second when
Elizabeth Cyrwus scored a player down goal with 10:08 to go in the quarter.
The Spartans continued to build their lead scoring three more unanswered before
Rylee Orenstein and El. Cyrwus netted goals to pull CUC back within 10-4. Unfortunately CUC was unable to get any closer in the contest, falling by a final score of 18-8.
The Cougars have earned the second seed in the upcoming NACC plays, and now ready for postseason play when they host Edgewood College on Tuesday afternoon. Opening draw is set for 4:30pm from River Forest. You can find links to coverage at cucougars.com/coverage.
