Headley Leads Cougars in Hard-Fought Game

River Forest, Ill. – Heading up north for a rivalry matchup with Concordia University Wisconsin, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars fell short 20-1.

Inside the Box
  • Justin Headley (Baltimore, Md.) scored his fourth career goal in the game while Andrew Lechuga (El Monte, Calif.) grabbed his third career assist on the day.
  • Headley led the team in groundballs with five while Zach Cicero (Chicago, Ill.) followed behind with four.
  • Headley won two faceoffs on the day while Aidan Vizi (Bethel, Ct.) grabbed one.
  • Peter Borkowski (St. Louis, Mo.) grabbed 19 saves on the day while facing 69 total shots in the game.

On the opening possession of the game, the Falcons were able to take an early 1-0 lead, forcing the Cougars to battle a deficit for the entirety of the game.  Multiple successful clears from the Cougars couldn't result in goals as they continued to battle the Falcon defense. After only taking two shots in the first quarter, the Cougars went down 7-0 after the first fifteen minutes.

Starting the second quarter off with a won faceoff, the Cougars were unable to convert and gave possession back to the Falcons. CUC's defense continued to hold strong as they held the Falcons scoreless for ten minute chunk in the middle of the second quarter before a shot from Headley finds its way into the net to put the Cougars on the board. They closed the second quarter 10-1.

Unable to score again for the remainder of the game, the Cougars fell to the Falcons in a physical matchup.

The Cougars will take the field again on Tuesday at IIT for a 7:00pm faceoff. Coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
