RIVER FOREST, Ill. --- Competing in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play for the first time since 2019, the Concordia University Chicago men's tennis team took to the court twice this weekend. CUC opened the weekend on Saturday taking on Concordia Wisconsin, who was picked second in the NACC preseason poll. Concordia then closed the weekend in Wisconsin against St. Norbert CUC battled in their first conference action in three years but would fall 9-0 in both matches.
In the opening match of the weekend against CUW, the Cougars faced a tall task with one of the NACC favorites. CUC fought, but the only one to take a game was
Peter Rios in number one singles.
On Sunday afternoon CUC put up a strong fight against St. Norbert. Rios and
Joshua Wright were able to take a game at number one doubles but came up short. It was Rios again who provided excitement at number one singles. He battled the top SNC player tough in the opening set, which went to a tiebreaker that St.Norbert won 7-6. Wright and
Scott Engler were also able to win games, but ultimately CUC would fall 9-0.
The Cougars will continue NACC play on Saturday, April 2, when the Cougars head to Milwaukee to take on Wisconsin Lutheran College. You can keep up with the team on social media @CUChicagoTennis
