AUBURNDALE, Fla. --- The Concordia University Chicago baseball team took to the field on Friday afternoon against the Clarkson University Golden Knights. Clarkson scored early and CUC had answers through the first few innings, but the Golden Knights were able to keep the offense rolling all night, downing CUC 11-4.

Garry Maynard had two hits and two runs scored.

Brody Mariotti had two hits and a team-high three RBIs.

Jack Rector got the start and took the loss, giving up two runs in three innings of work.
Clarkson scored in their initial at-bats of the contest. With one out a triple put a runner in scoring position. A single then made it 1-0 Clarkson. The Golden Knights doubled their lead in the third. A leadoff walk came around to score on a second triple of the game.
Concordia cut into the deficit in the bottom of the third. With one out Maynard was hit by a pitch. He then advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sac fly by Mariotti.
Clarkson added two more in the top of the fourth, and CUC had the answer again in the bottom half. The first two batters of the inning walked. One out later a third walk loaded the bases. A sac
fly by Maynard scored one to make it 4-2. Mariotti then singled through the left side to pull CUC within 4-3.
From there Clarkson outscored CUC 7-1 to down the Cougars 11-4.
