Cougars Defeated In Homecoming Matchup

RIVER FOREST, ILL. — The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's volleyball team faced the St. Norbert College (SNC) Green Knights. This Homecoming Weekend celebration game came as a loss to the Cougars as they fell 3-0 to the Green Knights.

St. Norbert started off the game with a swell of points to lead the first set 8-0. The Cougars were then able to chip away with kills from both Grace Heywood (Northbrook, Ill.) and McKayla LeVoy (Kankakee, Ill.) to make it 8-4. The Green Knights pulled away as they continued their offensive attack to make a score of 15-8. Another kill from Lili Hunt (Greenfield, Ind.) was an attempt to thwart SNC, but was too late as they took the first set 25-13.

Coming back with fire in the second set, the Cougars were able to battle back and forth for a good section of points. The Green Knights began to come back 10-6, so Brooke Christensen (Blaine, Minn.) and Eve Dicken (St. Louis, Mo.) both got kills of their own to try and pull back in CUC's favor. Prompting an impressive string of points, SNC was able to take set two 25-9.

St. Norbert began a run of points as they went up 6-1 in set three. Katie Stonich (Sadieville, Ky.) grabbed a couple of kills for the Cougars as they started their offense. Charissa Lind (St. Charles, Mo.) also snagged a service ace to bring them within one of the Green Knights, 6-5. After some kills from Katie Schrems (South Bend, Ind.) and Maddie Krage (Preston, Minn.), it became too much for CUC to handle as they fell in the third and final set 25-10, losing the game 3-0.

The Cougars stay home this next week as they host North Central for a Tuesday night 7 p.m. start. Coverage for all of our sports can be found at cucougars.com/coverage
