Cougars Finish Season With Loss To Stars

RIVER FOREST, ILL. — The Concordia University Chicago women's soccer team traveled down the road today to take on their Division Street Rivals, the Dominican Stars. In their last game of the 2022 season, they ultimately fell 3-0 to the Stars.

Starting off the game, the Stars wanted to make a statement on their home turf. However, Jamie Seibert (Arlington Heights, Ill.) was able to get a shot into the bottom left of the goal before being saved by the Dominican goalie. With the momentum shifting, Kassie Silenzi (Carpentersville, Ill.) was able to make one of her six saves on the day and thwart the Dominican rally. Shortly after, the Stars scored their first goal of the game and went up 1-0.

Moving into the second half, both teams came out swinging as Lucia Fullone (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) was able to get a shot off in the 51st minute. Jordyn Gosell (Antioch, Ill.) also joined the offensive battle, as she got two shots that were just wide of the goals. The Stars were then able to get back-to-back goals in the 76th and 77th minutes to go up 3-0. This would be the final score of the game, the Stars defeating the Cougars 3-0.

This concludes the 2022 season for the Concordia University Chicago women's soccer team. They finished this season with a record of 3-8-5 and a conference record of 3-7-3. For all offseason updates and 2023 season schedules, keep up to date on cucougars.com/coverage.
