Box Score River Forest, Ill. -- Concordia University Chicago Men's Soccer welcomed the Muskies of Lakeland University to Concordia Stadium Wednesday afternoon. The match was tightly contested throughout, with Lakeland eventually winning by a final score of 2-1.
It was the Cougars who got the scoring going early. Junior Austin Montejano (Zion, Ill.) found senior Ryan Kuhlman (Darien, Ill.) who found the back of the net for his second goal of the season.
The Muskies evened things up 10 minutes later on a breakaway and the score remained even for the final 29 minutes of the opening half.
The scoreless drought ended just over two minutes into the second half, when the Muskie's attack generated the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal.
The offensive attack of the Cougars was strong throughout the 90 minutes of action. The team mustered 20 shots to Lakeland's seven, with eight of them on goal. The Muskie's defense and goalkeeping were able to withstand the persistent pressure, however.
