Aurora, Ill. – The Concordia University Chicago football team played their first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game today as they travelled to the Aurora University Spartan's home turf.
The Spartans were able to grab an early lead against the Cougars and from there, they did not let up. After scoring the first touchdown of the game, Aurora continued on its scoring streak. This resulted in a 70-0 loss for the Cougars.
There were bright spots in the game despite the score. On defense,
Brendon Baugh (Tamaric, Fla.) led the team with nine solo tackles and one assisted tackle for a total of 10. Earl McIntyre (Smithville, Texas) followed close behind Baugh with seven tackles. Six of those were solo tackles while one was assisted.
Christian Covington (Corinth, Texas) continues to be a bright spot on offense for the Cougars. Although he only had one reception for the game, he led the team in yards with 23.
Cornell Davis II (Atlanta, Ga.) was right behind him as he finished with one reception and 16 yards for the afternoon. The starting quarterback for CUC,
Jordan Sepulveda (Lake Worth, Fla.), went 8-16 on the night for a total of 59 yards.
The Cougars will have the week off before they dive back into NACC play on Saturday, Sept. 25. They will host their first home game of the season as they welcome Concordia University Wisconsin to River Forest. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
