Wheaton, Ill. - Concordia University of Chicago men's soccer had an incredible performance on Saturday, defeating the Wheaton Thunder 1-0. This was the final day in the Bob Baptista Invitational, and the Cougars definitely showed out to finish up the tournament.
The Thunder certainly were not an easy opponent to defeat, as they entered the game with a 3-0 record on the year. CUC began the game with some stellar defense as was able to fend off multiple attacks by the Wheaton team. The Cougars broke the scoreless drought in spectacular fashion to take the 1-0 lead. This carried into the next half, where both teams turned up the intensity.
The rest of the game was kept with this score, all thanks to the incredible defense from the Cougars. They were able to hold off the Thunders offense and win 1-0.
Player Highlights of the Game:

Samuel Epperly (Elgin, Ill.) had the first and only goal for the Cougars today. His aggressive sportsmanship earned a win for him and his teammates.

Both Joseph Perez (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and Nicholas Pasut (New Boston, Mich.) had incredible games in the net for Concordia today. Both had multiple saves to help CUC reach this win.
The Cougars will be playing next on Sept. 15, at Benedictine University. At 7 p.m., the Cougars will hope to extend their win streak and continue their stellar defense.
