Last home game of season results in loss to Red Devils

The Concordia University Chicago football team lost 26-3 to Eureka.

In a game that frequently featured the defenses making the big plays, the Concordia University Chicago football team (0-3) fell to the Eureka College Red Devils (1-2), 26-3. Eureka was able to find an offensive spark in the second half after an incredibly defensive first half.

The Cougars struck first with a Nicholas Pasut (New Boston, Mich.) 24-yard field goal after the defense forced a fumble inside the Eureka 10-yard line. The Red Devils responded with a touchdown catch by Samuel Mono to give them a 6-3 lead and finish off the first-half scoring.

Pasut also did well in the punting game, pinning Eureka inside their own 20 on three occasions, including the possession that led to the fumble and field goal.

The Red Devils threw two more touchdowns in the third quarter, and the final score of the day came on a pick-six for Eureka in the fourth.

Meanwhile, Cougar quarterback Jordan Sepulveda (Coral Springs, Fla.) led the team with 113 all-purpose yards, including longs of 18 yards on the ground and 20 through the air.
On defense, Tyler Dudley (Katy, Texas) led all players in the game with eight tackles. Martin Egbo (Williamsburg, Va.) and Justin Aduo (Grand Prairie, Texas) also had big impacts, frequently making plays in the Eureka backfield while recording six tackles each.

The Cougars will return to Concordia Stadium this fall when they begin their normally scheduled 2021 football season.
