The Concordia University Chicago women's lacrosse team (10-1) played their last regular season conference game of 2021 today, April 20, as they hosted Aurora University (5-3). After two halves of play, the Cougars did not come out with a win, ultimately losing the contest 14-3.
Â
The Spartans started off with the early lead, and although the Cougars tried to come back with a goal from
Rylee Orenstein (Walnut Creek, Calif.), it wasn't enough to pull themselves back into the game. At the half, Concordia was down 6-1, but their deficit grew. Orenstein was able to find the back of the net one more time along with senior
Elizabeth Cyrwus (Chicago, Ill.), but at the end of the 60 minutes, it wasn't enough. The Cougars finished the game scoring three goals compared to the Spartan's 14.
Â
Orenstein and Elizabeth Crywus were the only two to score during today's match. Senior
Sarah Ludwig (Roselle, Ill.) led the team on defense with four caused turnovers. Junior Emily Crywus (Chicago, Ill.) also found success on the field as she led the team in ground balls, securing seven.
Â
The Cougars will have off until Wednesday, April 28, when they host the semifinal round of the NACC women's lacrosse tournament. A time and opponent will be announced in the coming weeks.
