The drought is over! Concordia University Chicago men's lacrosse (1-1) defeated Mount St. Joseph University (0-2) by a score of 15-6 to earn their first victory since March 23, 2019.
After falling 28-5 in their first match against Carthage, the Cougars found themselves behind 2-0 at the end of the first period on Saturday. They kicked it into gear in the second, however, scoring six unanswered goals to enter the half with a four-point lead.
The Cougars' kept their foot on their gas in the third, scoring six more goals and allowing just one to take a commanding 12-3 lead into the final 10 minutes. After playing an even 3-3 in the last period, the Cougars walked away with their first win in nearly two years.
Freshman standout Jacob Schnepf (Baltimore, Md.) scored a game-high four goals, including the first goal of the second half. Fellow freshmen Clayton Emery (Fishers, Ind.) followed up his three-goal performance in the opener with two more goals in Saturday's win.
Chadd Rowe (Atlanta, Ga.) also scored in both games for the Cougars, adding two goals to his season total on Saturday. The sophomore also dished out a game-high four assists. Other Cougars to score multiple goals were sophomore Dylan Mordhorst with three (Centreville, Va.) and senior Benjamin Lang (West Dundee, Ill.) with two. Lang added two assists to his box score as well.
Senior goaltender Jack Liskey (Crown Point, Ind.) spent most of the game in net, allowing four goals and making 14 saves.
