The Concordia University Chicago softball team (1-5) competed in a double header today as they took on the Lake Forest College Foresters (2-0).
In the first game of the day, the Cougars took a 3-12 loss to the Foresters, which ended in five innings. The first inning only led to a one-run deficit for the Cougars, but after that, the Foresters went on a run. In the following three innings, Lake Forest grabbed 10 runs compared to CUC's two.
Junior
Sydney Paulauskis-Lauher (Chatham, Ill.) led the Cougars on offense, recording two of the team's three runs. Senior
Sydney Sterrett (Lafayette, Ind.) grabbed the other run for CUC. Also helping on the team's offensive effort was sophomore
Becky Pieroni (Montgomery, Ill.), who registered two RBI's.
The second game of the day against the Foresters started shortly after, resulting in a similar fate for the Cougars. Both teams had one run heading into the top of the third. That's when the Foresters stole the lead. Lake Forest scored six runs in one inning and didn't let up from there. The Cougars lost 3-11 in six innings to the Foresters.
Again in this game, Paulauskis-Lauher scored a run for the Cougars. Joining her with in this game were senior Nia DeGeogre (Omaha, Neb.) and freshman
Carole Ross (Whittier, Calif.). Along with those two, freshman
Annabella Archuletta (Pueblo, Colo.) and senior
Yasmine Fox (Palos Hills, Ill.) each had an RBI.
The Cougars will have the weekend off before heading into Chicago to take on North Park University in a double header on Monday, March 8. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
