The Concordia University Chicago softball team (2-10) was back in action today, March 24, as they hosted the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders (8-0). After two games of a doubleheader, the Cougars came out of the contests with two losses.
Â
In the first, Concordia kept the game close with the 16th-ranked team in the NCAA. The Cougars only allowed four runs from the Raiders, although CUC did not record any, losing 4-0. The defense shined for CUC during this game as they battled this Raiders' offense.
Â
Then in the second, the Cougars didn't let the Raiders score more than two runs until the fourth inning. That's when the Raiders brought home six batters as they went on to win 15-0.
Â
Leading Concordia for the day was junior
Sydney Paulauskis-Lauher (Chatham, Ill.). The utility player was the only Cougar who recorded hits in both games today. Also recording hits were freshman
Annabella Archuletta (Pueblo, Colo.) and senior
Sydney Sterrett (Lafayette, Ind.).
Â
The Cougars will continue with non-conference play as they take on Lakeland University this Saturday, March 27. The doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m. and coverage can be found on Lakeland University's website.
