The Concordia University Chicago men's lacrosse team (0-1) competed in their first game in nearly a year as they traveled to Carthage College (2-0). Although the first few minutes were a close contest between the two teams, it ultimately ended in a 5-28 loss for the Cougars.
Â
Freshman
Clayton Emery (Fishers, Ind.) scored the first goal for the Cougars today off an assist from
Justin Headley (Nottingham, Md.) to keep the game close in the first five minutes. But then, Carthage went on an eight-goal run to grab a significant lead over the Cougars that they were unable to recover from.
Â
Underclassmen led the way for Concordia in their first outing of the season. Emery finished his first collegiate game with a hat trick. Sophomores
Dylan Mordhorst (Centreville, Va.) and
Chadd Rowe (Atlanta, Ga.) contributed to the team's offensive efforts as well, with each scoring one goal. Mordhorst also added an assist.
Â
On defense, CUC was able to cause 13 turnovers, and senior goalie
Jack Liskey (Crown Point, Ind.) made 16 saves.
Â
The Cougars will be back in action again this Saturday as they host Mount St. Joseph in a non-conference contest. The first faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Any schedule updates can be found on the CUC Athletics website.
