Ruddell secures new career-high in loss to Regents

The Concordia University Chicago men's basketball team lost 68-82 to the Rockford University Regents.

River Forest, Ill. -- The Concordia University Chicago men's basketball team (0-8) competed in their second contest against the Rockford Regents (4-3) tonight in a weekend NACC double header. After 40 minutes of play, the Cougars found themselves with a 68-82 loss.

In this contest, CUC fought hard against the Regents. Heading into the half, the Cougars were only down by four. They even grabbed a lead for a short time with nine minutes left in the second. But once the clock only had six minutes left, Rockford gained momentum and did not let up on the Cougars, resulting in the loss for CUC.

Junior Izak Ruddell (Saint Joseph, Mich.) was the only Cougar to finish with double-digit points in tonight's game, recording a career-high 25 points. During this strong offensive performance, Ruddell shot 7-11 from the field and made 11 of 13 free throws. He also shined on defense for the Cougars, finishing with seven rebounds and two steals.

Rounding out the offensive effort for Concordia tonight was junior Jordan Matthews (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Jordan Schmidt (Noblesville, Ind.). Both players finished with nine points on the night, and the pair of guards also had three steals each to benefit the Cougars' offense.

The Cougars will have three days off before they hit the floor in River Forest as the take on the Lake Forest College Foresters. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. A live stream can be found at youtube.com/cucsports.
