River Forest, Ill. -- The Concordia University Chicago men's basketball team (0-7) was back on the road for the second time this week as they took on a NACC opponent in the Rockford University Regents. After two halves of play, the Cougars couldn't manage a win, losing the contest 71-87.
Although CUC put up a big defensive effort, the Regents grabbed an early lead in the first half of the game. The Cougars attempted to put up shots, but they were unable to keep up with Rockford. Concordia did, however, make up a great deal of points in the second half. The Cougars outscored the Regents in the second with 43 points to their 37.
Junior
Jordan Matthews (Chicago, Ill.) had another outstanding game for the Cougars as he finished the night with a season-high 27 points, shooting 50 percent from the field while making all eight of his free throws. This is the third time in four games where Matthews scored at least 25 points.
Also earning double-digit points for the team's offensive effort was junior
Izak Ruddell (Saint Joseph, Mich.). The guard recorded 11 points tonight for the Cougars. The duo of Ruddell and Matthews scored over half of Concordia's points during tonight's loss.
On defense, freshman
Justin Greenlee (Brown Deer, Wis.) shined for CUC. He grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds, snatching five on each end of the court. Greenlee also added two steals, two assists and one block to top off his stellar defensive performance tonight.
The Cougars completed their first of two games against the Regents this weekend. They will be back in Rockford tomorrow afternoon for a 5 p.m. tipoff to round out this series. To watch the contest, visit
