The Concordia University Chicago men's basketball team (0-6) traveled to Indiana tonight to take on the Wabash College Little Giants (1-2) in a non-conference contest. After a battle between the two teams, the Cougars left the game with a 70-76 loss to Wabash.
Â
CUC fought with the Little Giants throughout most of the first half, but as they headed into the locker room, Concordia was down by four with a score of 31-35. Once they went back on the court for the second half, the Cougars were unable to keep up with the Little Giants. However, Concordia did make a big comeback in the remaining few minutes of the game. Down by 15 with less than seven minutes, CUC made some crucial three-pointers and free throws to keep the contest close, only losing by six.
Â
Leading the Cougars tonight were junior
Izak Ruddell (Saint Joseph, Mich.) and senior
Justin Schwarz (Edwardsville, Ill). The two guards both recorded 17 points each, with Schwarz shooting 60 percent from the field while grabbing seven rebounds and Ruddell finishing with three three-point field goals.
Â
Rounding out the offense for the Cougars were the Chicago natives in junior
Jordan Matthews and freshman
