Green Bay, Wis. --- Looking to rebound after a tough five-set loss last night, the Concordia University Chicago women's volleyball team took to the court Saturday afternoon against the St. Norbert Green Knights. The Cougars (7-12; 1-6 NACC) struggled to get an offensive rhythm and fell to St. Norbert (14-11; 5-2 NACC) by a 3-0 score.
The Cougars opened set one strong. Joy Greco started the day with a kill. Grace Heywood then added two aces to give CUC a 4-0 lead. St. Norbert worked their way back into the set, grabbing the lead midway through. The Green Knights did not relinquish the lead the rest of the way, closing the 25-15 set one win on a 9-2 run.
Alyssa Henline opened up the scoring for CUC in set two. St. Norbert continued their offensive run grabbing an early lead. The Cougars worked back into the set with a 5-0 run. Two aces by Henline and a
Katie Stonich kill pulled CUC back within two. Unfortunately for the Cougars the Green Knights closed out the 25-18 set two win on another sizable run.
St. Norbert opened the third set on a 9-0 run. The Cougars were unable to get an offensive run going, falling in the third set 25-13.
Greco led the offense with 11 kills on the afternoon. Isabelle Vernengo dished out a game-high 23 assists and Julia Beers finished with 14 digs.
