Cougars Can't Rally Late Against Keystone

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – After picking up two wins to open up the trip, the Concordia University Chicago Baseball team took to the field for the third day of their spring break trip today. The Cougars got on the board early, but the bats would go silent late, as Kesytone was able to score four unanswered to down the Cougars by a final score of 4-3.

INSIDE THE BOX
  • Kyle Strepek took the loss (0-2). The left hander worked four innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out five.
  • Noah Dressler worked four strong innings of relief, allowing just two hits while striking out six.
  • Bryce Vincent had a two hit game and drove in a run.
  • Matthew Uba recorded his second triple of the trip and also drove in a run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • CUC broke through in the top of the second. Brody Mariotti led off by ripping a first pitch to right center for a double. An error followed to put runners at second and third with no out. Bryce Vincent followed with an RBI single through the left side. A sac fly preceded a Matthew Uba triple to make it 3-0 CUC.
  • Keystone answered in the fourth. A leadoff homer got the Giants on the board. A single, triple and a CUC error followed allowing Keystone to tie it at three.
  • The Giants would push across the eventual game winning run in the fifth. They would score an unearned run on a sac fly to left to make it 4-3.
  • Dressler controlled the Giant offense the rest of the way.
  • CUC got the game tying run to second base in the ninth, but would come up empty.
