CUC Concludes Season at Aurora

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- After winning their final home game of the year, the Concordia-Chicago men's basketball team will look to end the season on a two-game win streak, as they prepare to take on the Aurora Spartans tomorrow afternoon on the road.

This Season... The Cougars have had one of their most successful seasons in the last decade under Head Coach Steve Kollar's tenure, as CUC has won eight games, marking the most wins in a single season since the 2011-12 campaign. With seven conference wins and a 6-7 record at home, the 2019-20 Cougars have also achieved program bests, in those respective categories, since the 11-12 team did so with 10 conference wins and a 6-7 home ledger. On the year, the Cougars have shot 44.3 percent from the field, which stands as a program best since the 2010-11 Cougars shot 45.2 percent on the year.  About the Spartans... Last time out, the Spartans fell 79-71 to CUC, inside Geiseman Gymnasium. Since then, Aurora has gone 6-6 through NACC play and is still vying for a spot into the conference tournament, pending a win tomorrow and a MSOE loss to Marian. On the year, the Spartans have shot 43.1 percent from the field and average 78.1 points per game. Will Hrubes and Bailey Vance lead the squad with 13.0 and 12.6 points per game, respectively. The two also average 6.3 rebounds per game each, which is the team high for the Spartans.

Cougar Tape... CUC is coming off a win over Marian earlier this week, in which the Cougars had their best three-point shooting performance since early January. Shooting 41.9 percent from beyond the arc against the Sabres, Concordia was led by rookie Tavarus Williams and senior Raushaun Amos in the win. Williams recorded the first double-double of his career, along with his first double-digit scoring and rebounding performances with 17 points and 11 boards. Amos tallied his third double-double of the season, picking up 14 points off 4-of-9 shooting from three, and grabbing 11 rebounds of his own. Senior Neil O'Donnell has been stellar through the final leg of his collegiate career, as the Illinois native has averaged 10.2 points per game over CUC's last six games. During that span, O'Donnell has set three new career-highs in scoring, including a 16-point performance against Rockford back on February 12.
