RIVER FOREST, Ill. – After two hard fought battles over CIT weekend, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team returns to action for a critical three game week this week. The week begins on Tuesday night when the Cougars welcome the Edgewood College Eagles to Geiseman Gymnasium.
Series History: The Cougars and Eagles have faced off 19 times since 2007. Edgewood is 14-5 against CUC during that span and have won the last five. CUC last defeated Edgewood at home back on January 10, 2015. Edgewood defeated CUC 78-49 in Madison back on December 1.
About the Cougars: The Cougars come into Tuesday night 5-12 overall and 4-8 in the NACC. They had a three game winning streak snapped over CIT weekend.
Charisma Robinson had two great games over the weekend and was named to the CIT All-Tournament team. Robinson recorded her first career double-double with a 16 point ten rebound performance on Friday night. She then fell just three points shy of a second when she pulled down ten more rebounds on Saturday against Ann Arbor.
Tara Hastings had a big performance on Saturday. She finished with 29 points while playing in all 40 minutes for CUC. Her 29 points were the most since 2018 when
Taylor Jacobsen had 30 in a game. Hastings ranks fourth in the NACC with a 15.5 points per game average. She is also one of the top shooters in the conference. On the season she is knocking down 45.9 percent of her shots. Robinson continues to be on of the top turnover forcers in the NACC. She ranks fourth in the conference in total steals, and helps a CUC team that ranks first in the conference and 35
th nationally in turnovers forced.
About the Eagles: The Edgewood College Eagles come into Tuesday 15-2 overall and 10-2 in the NACC. They are on a two game winning streak and are 9-1 on the road this season. The Eagles lead the NACC in assists, assist to turnover ratio, scoring margin and rebounds. Bria Lemirande ranks second in the NACC and 30
th nationally with a 2.0 assist to turnover ratio. Alyssa Lemirande ranks second in the NACC and 40
th nationally with a 53.5 field-goal percentage this season. A. Lemirande leads a balanced offensive attack this season with a 13.2 points per game average.
Up Next: The Cougars will have two more home games this week to close out the season long five game homestand. CUC will welcome Marian into Geiseman on Thursday night. MSOE will then make their way to MSOE on Saturday afternoon.
