Cougars Extend Winning Streak To Three With Win Over Alverno

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Looking to build on their two game winning streak, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team headed north to take on the Alverno Inferno for the final road contest before five straight home games. It was the best offensive night of the season for the Cougars, as CUC extinguished the Inferno by an 84-55 final score.
 
Turning Point
  • Leading 19-12 after the first quarter, CUC would go on an 11-0 run over the first four minutes of the second quarter to open a 30-12 lead. The Cougars would go on to outscore Alverno 22-8 in the second quarter.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • The Cougars shot a season high 49.3 percent from the floor, the highest in a game since January 16, 2019 against Alverno when CUC shot 52.5 percent.
  • Tara Hastings finished with 20 points on 7-11 shooting including 14 first half points. It was the fourth time this season Hastings has scored 20 or more points.
  • Charisma Robinson finished with 12 points on 6-10 shooting to go along with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
  • In total 12 different players scored for CUC, a season high.
  • CUC knocked down 11 threes as a team. It was the fourth time this season the Cougars have knocked down 10 or more in a game.

  • Hastings helped CUC to jump out to an 11-3 lead in the opening minutes. The freshman scored nine of the Cougars first nine points.
  • Meghan Long and Michaela Thornton helped CUC offensively down the stretch to take a 19-10 lead after one.
