Cougars Winning Streak Ends With Loss To CUW

MEQUON, Wis. – Looking to extend their winning streak to four, the Concordia University Chicago Men's Basketball team hit the road tonight for a NACC midweek matchup with the rival Falcons of Concordia Wisconsin. The Cougars took a two point lead into the half, but the Falcons were able to get the best of CUC inside to pull away in the second half 83-67.
 
TURNING POINT
  • CUC led 53-51 when Jordan Johnson hit a jumper to tie the game for CUW. That began a 14-2 run for the Falcons over the next 5:47 to open up a double digit lead.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Brent Hatten had a season high 21 points on 7-18 shooting.
  • With a 17 point performance tonight Raushaun Amos has now scored 17+ points in his last eight games.
  • Izak Ruddell had a career high nine rebounds to go along with four steals.
  • CUW scored 50 of their points in the paint.
  • CUC shot a season low 35.9 percent from the field.

  • CUC started quick, getting threes by Hatten and Amos for a 6-0 lead.
  • CUW answered with a 15-0 run over the next five minutes to take a 15-6 lead.
  • The Falcons built their lead out to 15 with 7:28 remaining in the half.
  • CUC closed the half on a 25-8 run over the next 6:42. Amos hit the last three threes of the half to give CUC a 41-39 lead.
  • Hatten hit a three with 17:38 on the clock in the second half to give CUC their biggest lead of the day at 51-45.
  • Jordan Johnson pulled CUW even at 53 with 13:27 remaining in the half which sparked a 14-2 run for the Falcons to open up a double-digit lead.
  • CUC was able to pull as close as eight down the stretch but would fall by a final of 83-67.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Cougars (6-7; 5-4 NACC) will hit the road once again on Saturday. CUC will head to the south side of Chicago to take on the Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech. Opening tip is set for 2:00pm.
