Cougars Drop NACC Contest to Dominican

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Hitting the road for the ninth time in 11 games this season, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team headed down the street to take on the rival Dominican Stars this afternoon. CUC battled, but would come up short against the Stars by a final score of 74-63.
 
TURNING POINT
  • In the second quarter a Jaylene Wade three tied the game at 27 with 5:34 remaining in the quarter. Dominican would outscore CUC 11-4 the rest of the quarter and would not give up the lead.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Tara Hastings had a game high 19 points on 5-7 shooting. She was a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line.
  • Annika Rae matched her career high with 14 points. She also pulled down seven rebounds.
  • Charisma Robinson had an impressive seven steals, which was the most in a game since Courtney Lofink recorded nine against Lakeland back in 2018.
  • Crystal Corr had a season high 10 rebounds. 
  • CUC shot 32.3 percent from the field and 6-21 from three.
  • Dominican shot 41.5 percent from the floor and 9-20 from three.
QUICK RECAP
  • Robinson got the offense going early for CUC. She knocked down a free-throw and then turned a steal into a layup to give CUC a quick 3-0 lead.
  • CUC built their lead out to 8-3 on a pair of free-throws by Hasting.
  • Dominican then went on a 13-0 run over the next 4:14 to take a 16-8 lead and force a CUC timeout.
  • CUC got the offense going again but trailed 19-16 after one.
  • The Cougars got back within 25-24 early in the second with a jumper by Rae.
