River Forest, Ill.- Concordia University Chicago (0-7-2; 0-1-1 NACC) faced off against Concordia University Wisconsin (7-0; 3-0 NACC) in their second conference match of the season. CUC was coming off of a double overtime draw against Aurora University earlier in the week. The Cougars looked to break through into the win column versus an undefeated Falcons team but the CUW offense proved to be too much for them and they would fall 5-1.
Inside the Box Score:
- CUC faced 20 shots on the day, and recorded nine saves
- CUW recorded five goals on four assists, CUC's only goal was unassisted
- Brianna Welch netted the longest goal of the season for CUC (39 yards)
Opening up the match there was fifteen minutes of scoreless play. In the 15
th minute CUW would break into the scoring column off of an assisted goal. First half scoring would not stop there. After lining up for a free kick, Welch would tie the game up at 1-1 with an immaculate goal from 39 yards out. Unfortunately for the Cougars, the tie would not last long. 30 seconds later, Concordia-Wisconsin marched right down the field and regained the lead at 2-1. One more goal would get past the CUC keeper, and the Falcons would go into halftime leading 3-1.
Coming out of halftime the Cougars were chasing two goals. Concordia-Chicago's defense could not stop the high-powered Falcon attack and ten minutes into the second half CUW would extend their lead to 4-1. Concordia-Wisconsin would add another goal in the 73
rd minute to dig the CUC offense into a hole that they could not climb out of. Scoring would end there for both teams, with the final score being 5-1.
