Last Time Out... Adam Gregory ignited CUC's performance today, throwing 120 pitches from the hill and getting the Cougars through eight shutout innings of play. Concordia-Chicago's offense rolled during the fourth and eighth innings, as CUC strung together a fielder's choice RBI from
Connor Brandon and a later sacrifice fly from
Brody Mariotti to tack on two runs and seal the deal. While freshman
Mike Tobin picked up the ninth-inning save, Gregory earned his seventh win of the season and preserved his 7-0 record as a starter.Â
The Baldwin Wallace Sting...  Baldwin-Wallace improves to 26-15 on the season after picking up a win over St. John's earlier today. With an at-large bid to the tournament, and their eighth overall in the program's history, the Yellow Jackets made their presence known as they walked off the Johnnies in the bottom of the 10th, thanks to an RBI single from second baseman Kyle Pennington. With a resiliency among the team, Baldwin Wallace completed the four-run comeback after combining for 17 hits during the contest. Danny Cody and Nick Smith headline the bullpen for BW, as the two boast a 1.94 and 1.79 ERA, respectively. Through innings pitched, Jack Raines falls third in line, having pitched in 68.2 innings and fanning 75 batters along the way. As a team, the Yellow Jackets are hitting .290 while scoring 258 total runs and holding opponents to just 179.
Home Field Advantage... As the Cougars are now 14-2 at home this year, and 150-25 since 2007, CUC will look to carry its home momentum into tomorrow's contest.Â
What's At Stake... With a win against the Yellow Jackets, the Cougars will automatically advance to Sunday's championship round beginning at 11 a.m. If CUC drops the contest, the team will return right back to action and fight their way through a 3:30 p.m. elimination game on Saturday afternoon. Concordia-Chicago is looking to win its third regional title in as many seasons.Â
