River Forest, Ill. – After continuing their winning streak last weekend, the Concordia University Chicago Baseball team hits the field once again for a busy four game weekend. They will open the weekend at home against Wisconsin Lutheran College before hitting the road to face the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks on Sunday.
Series History: The Cougars have faced the Warriors 26 times since the 2007 season. CUC is 23-3 against WLC during that span including an 11-1 record at home. CUC has won 12 in a row including twice last season by scores of 7-1 and 16-5. CUC has never faced IIT. The Scarlet Hawks joined the NACC this season.Â

About the Cougars: The #1 ranked Cougars come into the weekend 15-1 and winners of 15 straight. CUC swept the opening weekend of NACC play by outscoring Edgewood and Marian by a 38-12 margin. The Cougar pitching has been rolling all year long. As a whole the team ranks fifth nationally with a 2.42 era.
Cole Carman ranks in the top fifty in the country of qualifying pitchers with a 1.21 era this season.
Mike Tobin has been strong closing games for CUC. HE currently has three saves and has not allowed an earned run in 6.2 innings of work. The Cougar offense got going last weekend.
Jose Mercado leads the way still with a .391 average this season. CUC has also used the long ball a lot this season. They rank second in the NACC and 23
rd in homers this season. In total eight different players have homered this season, led by
Brody Mariotti with four.

About the Warriors: Â The Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors come into the weekend 8-9 overall and 1-2 in the NACC. WLC has lost three in a row with their last game coming as an 8-6 loss to Carroll on Wednesday. Brannigan Hart leads the team this season with a .417 batting average. The junior lead the team with six doubles, and has driven in 11. As a team WLC is hitting .307. On the hill WLC has a team ERA of 5.61. Junior Levi Schriefer leads the team with a 1.29 ERA in seven innings of work.

About the Scarlet Hawks: The Illinois Tech Scarlet hawks come into the four game weekend with a 6-10 overall record and a 2-2 mark in the NACC. Most recently they lost a single non-conference to Elmhurst 8-1 on Wednesday night. They will play CUC on Sunday which will close out a busy seven game week. Zachary Dickey leads the team with a .467 average on the season. He also leads the team with 15 driven in to go along with three homers. As a team IIT is hitting .302 on the season. On the hill Roberto Carselle leads the team with a 2-1 record on the year. He has a 2.08 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched and has struck out 17 to just four walks.

Up Next: The Cougars will continue their string of NACC games next weekend. They will host Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon before heading to Lakeland University on Sunday. Opening pitch is set for 12:00pm both days.
