GAME ONE: W, 11-10

MSOE opened the scoring of game one. They were able to plate two runs on two hits to take an early lead.

CUC answered in the bottom half. After Mercado was hit by a pitch, Brayden Benavides doubled to left center to make it 1-0. One out later Mariotti dropped a single into center to score Benavides.

The Cougars added on in the second. Tyrell led off with a single to right center and then stole second. With one out and Tyrell at third Justin Rodriguez drove a first pitch fastball to right to make it 3-2. CUC loaded the bases when Mercado was hit by a pitch for a second time and Benavides drew a walk. VanDuser then added two more RBI's to his total with a single to center field which gave CUC a 5-2 lead.

CUC added a single run in the third on a Mateo Calle RBI groundout. The Cougars then added on two more in the fifth. A walk and a single opened the inning. Brandon then made it 8-2 CUC on a double down the left field line.

MSOE fought back over the last four innings. They added one in the sixth before scoring four in the seventh on five hits to pull within 8-7.

CUC added on what turned out to be pivotal runs in the bottom of the eighth. Tyrell led off the inning with a single and Calle was hit by a pitch. After a sac bunt put two in scoring position Matt Fauth doubled down the left field line to make it 10-7.

MSOE answered the call in the ninth. They were able to plate three runs in the inning on three hits. Mike Tobin was able to keep the game tied though, getting a groundout to short to end the inning.

CUC was able to walk it off in the ninth. Mariotti led off the inning with a double to left. An intentional walk, and error and a walk to Calle allowed CUC to plate the winning run for the 11-10 win.

GAME TWO: W, 12-2

After a quiet first inning MSOE struck first in game two with a run on two hits. CUC answered however with a run of their own in the bottom half. Tyrell led off the inning with a double to right and was brought around to score on a Calle single up the middle.

The Cougars then made it 3-1 in the third.  With two on an RBI ground out by Brandon scored one and a Tyrell double to left field extended the lead.

MSOE got a single run back in the fourth, but once again CUC was able to break it open in the bottom half. A hit batter and an error started the inning. An infield single and an error by the MSOE shortstop allowed the first run of the inning to score. After a walk loaded the bases VanDuser was hit by a pitch to make it 5-2. It then became 6-2 on an RBI groundout by Brandon.

CUC continued to add on in the fifth. With two on and one out an error by the MSOE third basemen allowed a run to score. A sac fly and a wild pitch then allowed CUC to extend their lead to 9-2.

The Cougars put the final touches on the sweep in the seventh. With one out and two on VanDuser singled to center to make it 10-2. Mariotti then doubled down the left field line for his team leading 36th RBI of the season. A walk to Tyrell then brought home the final run of the 12-2 win.

The Cougars will be back in action on Monday afternoon. They will head to The Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg, Ill. to take on the rival Dominican University Stars. First pitch is set for 1:00pm.
