Cougars To Close Opening Roadtrip At Edgewood

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – After enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team returns to action for a rare Sunday NACC matchup against the Edgewood College Eagles.

Full coverage is available for the game at cucougars.com/coverage and at @CUCWBBALL on twitter.

Recent History:  Edgewood has had the best of CUC in recent history, including twice last season. CUC fell behind early in Madison last season and was unable to rally, falling by a final score of 63-45. The Cougars look to win inside the Edgedome for the first time since December of 2016.

Making Hay: Freshman Tara Hastings has gotten off to a quick start to open her college career. She is averaging 14.3 points per game this season, which leads the Cougars and is second among all freshman in the NACC. Getting it done on both ends of the floor, she also ranks second in the NACC in steals per game (3.5) and second in three point field goal percentage (39.1).

About the Cougars: The Cougars look to rebound after a loss to Marian last week. The Cougars have been getting after opponents and forcing turnovers much like last season. Currently they lead the NACC in steals per game and turnovers forced. Their 13.3 steals per game ranks 37th nationally out of 430 teams. Michaela Thornton is the other Cougar that is averaging double figures this season. She is averaging 12.5 points per game, which includes a pair of 17 point performances at the UW-Whitewater Tip-off, where she was named to the All-Tournament team. Thornton also leads the team with a 7.0 rebounds per game average.

About the Eagles:  The Eagles are off to a 6-0 start for the first time in program history. They have accomplished that without playing at home yet this season. They also have a win over a 2019 NCAA Tournament team in Ripon College. They rank at or near the top in most of the offensive categories in the NACC. As a team they are shooting just over 44 percent from the floor this season.  Alyssa Lemirande and Emma Klein both are averaging over 11 points per game this season.

Up Next: The Cougars will finally return home for their first action inside Geiseman Gymnasium this season on Tuesday. They will welcome defending NACC champ Wisconsin Lutheran to River Forest for a 7:00pm tip on Tuesday night.
