MEQUON, Wis.—After winning two straight to get back to .500 in NACC play, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Volleyball team hit the road to take on NACC leading Concordia University Wisconsin. The Falcons were able to stop the offensive rhythm that the Cougars had in the previous two matches to down CUC in straight sets 25-13, 25-18, 25-11.
In set one the Falcons hit .480. They jumped out to a 10-5 lead early in the set. CUC got back within four on an
Alyssa Henline kill. CUW continued to add on throughout the set, including closing on a 7-2 run to take the opening set 25-13.
CUC had nine kills in set two, but CUW continued to roll with 13. Trailing 6-3 early, CUC got on a quick run with a kill by
Jaylynn Johnson and a
Courtney Luciano ace to tie the set at six. The Cougars then took the lead on back-to-back CUW errors. CUC extended their lead to 13-9 and forced a Falcons timeout.
Shannon Stamp and Henline had kills, and
Alexa Lomantini had an ace during the run. CUW answered with an 8-1 run to take the lead back at 21-16 which forced a CUC timeout. The Falcons closed the set on a 3-0 run to take the set 25-18.
Set three saw the Falcons limit the Cougar offense again. CUW jumped out quickly to a 15-5 lead in the set. The Cougars would get no closer in the set, as CUW closed out set three 25-11.
The Cougars will return to Geiseman Gymnasium on Tuesday night for more NACC action. They will take on the Benedictine University Eagles, with opening serve set for 7:00pm.
