Pink Out Game... Tomorrow's match is dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer during the month of October. Over the past few weeks, both the men's and women's soccer teams have been selling pink out t-shirts, and were able to raise and donate over $1,000 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The Concordia-Chicago soccer programs are asking fans to wear pink to both matches tomorrow and visit komen.org to learn more about the cause.
Let's Do It Again... Last time they took to the pitch, the CUC Cougars out lasted Rockford University in a 2-1, double-overtime victory.
Alexis Gallegos recorded his first career goal off a corner kick to give CUC the early lead, before the Regents scored the equalizer late in the second half. Forcing the game to extra time, Concordia-Chicago controlled much of the overtime momentum. Finally, in the 106th minute of play,
German Tinoco drew out Rockford's keeper and forced a fumbled ball towards the feet of
John Walsh who was able to strike and score the golden goal. With the win, the Cougars improved to 2-3 in NACC and marked CUC's ninth all-time victory over the Regents.Â
All-Time vs. Marian... With a deceiving 1-4 record in NACC play, the Sabres of Marian University are currently ninth among the conference standings. Defeating Lakeland for their lone conference win, the Sabres have battled top-tier teams in the conference, including just a 2-1 loss to CUW last week. Marian averages 2.96 goals allowed per game and are led offensively by Chris Nelson and Brandon Mancinin, who have 10 and nine points, respectively. All-time, the Cougars are 5-6-2 when facing the Sabres and won last year's meeting, 1-0 on Marian's home turf.Â
