Scouting the Eagles... Predicted to finish fourth overall in the NACC's preseason poll, Benedictine is 2-3-1 overall and 2-0 through the start of conference play. With wins over Marian and WLC, the Eagles had a challenging non-conference schedule which included a matchup against No. 15 Calvin College. Historically, the Cougars are 6-12-2 against Benu, with their last win coming in 2-1 fashion during the 2015 campaign. This season, the Eagles are averaging 2.67 goals per game and a .700 save percentage.
No Shot... Senior keeper
Jose Retana has tallied 54 saves already this season. With his total saves, he ranks first among the NACC's goalkeepers and 28th among national rankings. Due in part to Retana's efforts, the Cougars' netminder group also averages 8.75 saves per game, which is good for eighth among national ranks.
Medina Means Business... Already matching his total goals from last season, junior
Gerardo Medina is off to a hot start and leads the Cougars with three goals this season and one assist. An integral piece in CUC's two- win week, Medina tabbed two goals, including the overtime golden goal against Andrews University. Medina also netted the second goal to solidify CUC's 2-0 win over Northland College putting him in the running for the NACC's Offensive Player of the Week award.
