MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Looking to build on their two straight wins, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team headed to Milwaukee to take on the Milwaukee School of Engineering for an important NACC contest. CUC struggled offensively in the first half, and was unable to mount a comeback, falling by a final score of 70-52.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Sam Bloom, Crystal Corr and Jada Dixon all finished in double figures on the day.
- CUC shot just 31.7 percent on the day, going 2-13 from deep.
- MSOE shot 43.3 percent from the field and knocked down ten threes.
- Kayla Barreto led the Raiders with 19 points, nine assists and five rebounds.
Offense was hard to come by in the first. MSOE was the first to break through with 6:50 remaining in the opening quarter. CUC finally knocked down their first basket with 3:17 left in the quarter on a
Maddie Vojacek jumper. MSOE was then able to close out the opening ten minutes on an 11-4 run to take a 15-6 lead.
Corr was able to pull CUC within 10 early in the second quarter. The Raiders then answered with a 12-2 run to open a 30-10 advantage midway through the quarter. CUC was able to knock down free throws throughout the rest of the quarter, but still trailed 39-18 at the half.
MSOE was able to build their lead to 26 early in the third. Bloom, Vojacek,
Jada Dixon and
Deja Southall were able to score in the quarter, to pull CUC back within 55-36 after three quarters. The Raiders were able to build their lead back in the fourth, ultimately downing the Cougars by a 70-52 final score.
The Cougars will head on the road once again on Tuesday night. They will head to Madison, Wisconsin for a 7:00pm tip against Edgewood College.
