MADISON, Wis.-- Looking to avenge a home loss early in the season, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Basketball team hit the road to take on the Edgewood College Eagles in NACC action tonight. The Cougars got off to a slow start offensively an Edgewood was able to take advantage, building up a 42-19 lead over CUC at the half. Despite outscoring the Eagles in the second half, CUC would fall by a final score of 63-45.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Michaela Thornton led CUC with nine points on the night, with all of those coming in the second half.
- Jada Dixon finished with a season high seven rebounds on the night.
- CUC had 28 points from the bench.
- Edgewood held a 12 rebound advantage on the night and a 17-6 advantage in second chance points.
In the first the CUC offense started slow. Edgewood opened an 11-0 lead before CUC was able to get on the board with a
Jada Dixon layup with 4:33 remaining in the quarter. The Cougars tried to get momentum going with a
Bethany Hoehne three, but Edgewood was able to hold a 23-8 lead after one quarter.
Edgewood continued to shoot well from the floor in the second. They used an 11-2 run to build their lead to over 20 in the early goings. Dixon tried once again to get CUC going with a three with 6:29 remaining in the quarter. Unfortunately for the Cougars they were unable to get a run going and found themselves down 42-19 at the half.
Thornton got the scoring going in the second half with her first basket of the day.
Sam Bloom also got involved as the CUC offense became more active. Edgewood was able to ride the offensive momentum though, to add on to their lead in the quarter to make it 56-29 after three.
Back-to-back threes by Thornton and
Kaylah Koehler got things going for CUC in the fourth.

Ashley Measel and Hoehne all got in on the scoring in the quarter as CUC outscored Edgewood 17-6. Despite the effort, CUC fell by a final score of 63-45.
The Cougars will now ready for the 69
th annual Concordia University Invitational Tournament which kicks off Friday night at Concordia University Ann Arbor. CUC will take on the host Cardinals at 6:00pm (EST). Tickets are still available and can be purchased the day of the event.
