Milwaukee, Wis.- Concordia Chicago concluded their five game road trip this afternoon against MSOE. The Cougars offense was better this afternoon scoring, keeping possession, and generating more high percentage chances, but the Raiders were too much in the end as MSOE won by the final score of 27-2.
Benjamin Lang led the Cougars with two assists. Hunter Combe and DeMond Menefee each had a goal. Combe also provided six groundballs and two caused turnovers.
The beginning of the first quarter started off well for the Raiders. Within the first four minutes of the game, they scored two goals to take an early lead. MSOE continued to put pressure on the Cougar defense, but Jack Liskey was up to the task to make some key saves. Middle of the first quarter, the Raiders rattled off four straight goals and another late in the quarter to take a 7-0 lead.
The second quarter was much of the same play as the Raiders continued to play strong on the attack and limit the CUC chances on offense. Late in the quarter, Combe got the Cougars on the board on a man up opportunity off a great pass from Lang. However, MSOE took an 18-1 lead into halftime.
The Cougars defense really tightened up defensively in the third quarter limiting the potent Raiders offense to only three goals. CUC was still looking for that offensive spark to carry confidence and some momentum on the attack for the future.
Concordia Chicago's Menefee got back in the goal column as he gave the Cougars their second goal of the game. Lang picked up another assist on the play as he continued his good play setting up the goal scorers. MSOE tallied some more goals late to win 27-2.
Concordia-Chicago (1-9, 0-4 MLC) return to action next Wednesday, April 11, when they return for the first time in a month to take on Monmouth College. Face-off is set for 2:30pm.
