Eagles Soar Past Cougars In Final Road Test

Lisle, Ill.- Concordia Chicago was back on the road one last time this evening when they took on Benedictine University.  Unfortunately for the Cougars, the Eagles took control at the start of the second to win by the final score of 23-4.

Jordan Loeffler led the Cougars with four points on the night with three goals and an assist.  Jack Liskey made 19 saves on the evening for a .452 save percentage.

Benedictine got off to a roaring start after scoring three goals within the first two minutes of the game.  The Cougar offense really couldn't get going in the first quarter, but after the three goal outburst, the CUC defense tightened up combining with some great saves from Liskey, the Cougars only trailed 4-0 after one.  In the second quarter, the offense had a little spark from Loeffler.  He netted two goals in a six minute span to cut the BenU lead to 6-2.  However, the Eagles came right back and scored three goals to end the half and take a 9-2 lead into halftime.

The second half was a very different story.  The Benedictine offense kicked it into high gear and scored five straight goals to start the third quarter and to extend the lead to 12.  Loeffler and Hunter Combe picked up goals, including Loeffler getting his hat trick, but it was not enough as the Eagles tacked on a few more to win by the final score of 23-4.

Concordia-Chicago (1-14, 0-8 MLC) returns to action this Saturday for the home and season finale when they take on Fontbonne University.  The Cougars will also honor their lone senior Robert Padilla before the game.  Opening face-off is set for 1:00pm.
