Cougars Drop Non-Conference Game To Eagles

River Forest, Ill.- Concordia Chicago continued their quick homestand and busy week this afternoon against University of Northwestern (MN).  Unfortunately for the Cougars, the Eagles took control of the game in the second quarter to grab a six goal lead into halftime.  The game was called with 3:13 left in the third quarter and the Eagles won by the final score of 11-3.

Jordan Loeffler led the Cougars with 3 points, two goals and an assist to go along with two ground balls and one caused turnover.  Hunter Combe followed that up with a goal, an assist, and four groundballs.

The Eagles got things going early in the first quarter when Noah Vader Kooi got through the defense and fired it for the first goal of the game.  Loeffler came right back less than a minute later and laced one past the goalkeeper from the left side to tie the game at one.  Six minutes later, Northwestern managed to get three straight goals and force a CUC timeout.  Out of the timeout, Combe cut the lead to two off a nifty move to get one past the UNW goalkeeper.  The Eagles extended their lead scoring the last four goals of the half and take an 8-2 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Eagles scored three more goals to take an 11-2 lead.  Loeffler got his second goal of the game with five minutes to go in the third, but the game was called with 3:13 left in the third quarter and Northwestern beat Concordia Chicago 11-3.

Concordia-Chicago (1-11, 0-5 MLC) returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on rival Concordia Wisconsin.  Face-off is set for 1:00pm.
