Holland, Mich.- Concordia Chicago continued their road trip tonight as they took on a very good Hope College squad. Looking to snap a three game losing streak, the Cougars knew they had to be stout defensively and pick their opportunities on offense. However, the Flying Dutchmen didn't let CUC get any momentum in the game to cruise to a 22-0 victory.
Hunter Combe led the Cougars with two shots on goal, six groundballs, and two caused turnovers. Jack Liskey made ten saves on the evening.
Hope opened things up a minute into the game to give them an early lead. Minutes later, Combe came right back down the field and fired one on net, but the Hope goalkeeper made a great save to preserve their early lead. In three straight possessions, the Flying Dutchmen scored three straight goals to extend their lead to 4-0 and force a CUC timeout. Hope went on to close out the quarter with a 6-0 lead. The second quarter wasn't any better for the Cougars as the Flying Dutchmen continued to add to their lead to take a 13-0 lead into halftime.
The second half was much of the same. The Cougar offense struggles continued in this one as Hope controlled most of the possession in the second half. The Flying Dutchmen added nine goals to go on to win by the final score of 22-0
Concordia-Chicago (1-7, 0-2 MLC) will be back in action this Saturday, March 31, when the Cougars travel to Fond du Lac, Wis. to take on Marian University. Face-off is set for 1:00pm.
